Ning brought me to HJH Maimunah Restaurant. One chaotic place. It was a buzz with a lunch time crowd. A picture of President Nathan and his entourage sat prominently behind the cashier lending credibility of their fare. Sambal sotong, grilled brinjal, sambal salad and grilled promfret. The taste. Ok lah.I liked the place, right smack in city with a combination of run down shophouse against a backdrop of high rise offices. The food must be great (or cheap) by the amount of dishes on each table. If you fancy Malay fare, go to Jalan Pisang, a short walk from Bugis. You won't miss it Jalan Pisang is as short as a banana.
Wrap up your meal with a walk around Arab Street and soak in the culture.
